Mrs. Hazel Thomas VanCleave, 101, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2026 at her residence. She was born February 20, 1925 in Grenada to Jonathan G. and Ida Beck Thomas. Hazel was a devoted homemaker all of her life and a faithful member of First Baptist Church – Grenada.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, July 13, 2026 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Monday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Crystal VanCleave of Round Rock, TX; grandson, Joshua VanCleave of Giddings, TX; a great-grandson, Oliver Thomas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Rual VanCleave; daughter, Margie VanCleave; son, Edward VanCleave; sisters, Mary Lois Lancaster, Annette Thomas, Jewel Whitt and Jeanette Windham; and brothers, Bryant, Russell, J.C. and Buster Thomas.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Frank Fernandez, Buddy Thomas, Danny Ray Thomas, Frank Thomas, Paul Thomas and Joshua VanCleave.
