Obituary

Mr. Horace Kermit Worthy, 92, of Cadaretta, passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at his residence. He was born September 12, 1926 in Webster County to Corbett Osceola and Dora Frances Hemphill Worthy. He was a retired farmer and a World War II US Army Veteran. Mr. Worthy was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church in Webster County where he served as a Deacon and had recently been recognized as serving as a Sunday school teacher for 60 years. He was also a Mason, Shriner and had served on the Webster County Farm Bureau Board for many years.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, October 12, 2018 at Philadelphia Baptist Church in Webster County with Rev. Martin Jacks and Rev. Eddie Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time Friday at Philadelphia Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Elizabeth Middleton Worthy; one daughter, Jane Worthy of Cadaretta; one son, Joe Worthy of Grenada; and two granddaughters, Olivia Goode(Taylor) and Grace Worthy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William Corbett Worthy; daughter-in-law, Erin Worthy and a brother, Quentin Worthy.

Pallbearers will be Buzz Busby, Reb Byrne, Jimmy Carver, Larry Carver, Russ Doolittle, Steve Middleton, Craig Pittman and Kobin Worthy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Murrell Beck, Ricky Beck, Jimmy Bennett, Tate Gordon and Joe Hayes.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
