Mr. Homer Vernon Carver, 91, of Holcomb, passed away on May 7, 2017. Homer was the last surviving child of Vernon and Mamie Gibson Carver. As a young man, he joined the Army Air Force where he served as crew chief on a B26 aircraft and was stationed in Japan. After the military, he returned to Holcomb and married Helene Chapuis and began work at Heatcraft in Grenada where he retired after 25 years. He also worked for Rockwell and Grenada Steel. Homer was also the owner at Pegrams in Water Valley and later, the Corner Grocery in Holcomb.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. John Goldwater officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until service time Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn.

He is preceded him in death by his wife, Helene Chapuis Carver, his parents and nine siblings. He leaves behind his twin son and daughter, Randy Carver (Nancy) and Candace Richardson; five grandchildren, Corrie Lucius (John), John Ryon Wilson (Amanda), Gamal ElDib, Kris Lee (Lonnie) and David Dubard; and eight great-grandchildren, Alexa Lucius, Elle Lucius, Trace Lee, Hannah Lee, Elias ElDib, Jax Wilson, Ronin Wilson and Gunnar Wilson.

Pallbearers will be Dennis Carver, Mike Carver, Walton Carver, Mostafa ElDib, John Lucius, Rodney Mainelli, Garner Springston, Jr., John Springston and Myron Wilson.
