Mr. James Howard Newcomb, 80, of Elliott, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015. He was born July 31, 1934 in Grenada to James Henry and Cora Carpenter Newcomb. He was a retired skilled carpenter and a member of Elliott Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from the Chapel of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Bro. Ken Salley officiating. Interment will follow in the Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Myra Smith (Richard) and Gail Havens (Roger) of Elliott; a sister, Eva Mae Peters (Clyde) of Elliott and Ella Quay Sanders of Elva, AL; one brother, Berlie Newcomb of Greenville; five grandchildren, Melonie Hoop (Brad), Courtney Taylor, Devan Havens, Johnny Marter and Jason Newcomb (Meg); seven great-grandchildren, Taylor Hoop, Hadley Hoop, Mason Marter, Loden Marter, Harper Newcomb, Reeves Newcomb and Will Nisbett. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Margaret C. Newcomb, a son, Danny Newcomb and a brother, Herbie Newcomb.
Pallbearers will be Phillip Abels, Roger Havens, Sr., Roger Havens, Jr., Brad Hoop, Michael Peters and Robert Loyd Taylor.
