Mr. Jack Earl Simmers, 69, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, November 24, 2015 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Interstate 55 near Grenada. He was born May 15, 1946 in Grenada to the late Doyle Pete and Hazel Thompson Simmers. Jack had spent most of his working life in law enforcement and was a Vietnam Army Veteran.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 28, 2015 from the Chapel of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Fletcher Moorman officiating. Burial will follow near Vaiden, MS. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Mickie Simmers; three daughters, Hope Smart of Jackson, TN, Julie Moseley and her husband, Mike of Hurley, MS and Jackie Smart of Grenada; three sons, Doyle Simmons and his wife, Lynn of Leakesville, MS, Chris Geiger and his wife, Lori of Nashville, TN and Brian Geiger of Oakland; eleven grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, B.W. Smith and Charles "Bubba" Smith.
Pallbearers will be Buzzy Hill, Clyde Hill, Mark Lane, Gavin Moseley, Tyler Moseley and Randy Smith. Johnny Parker will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
