Mr. James Louis Blount, Sr., 83, of Grenada, passed away Friday, February 11, 2022 at his residence.  He was born October 20, 1938 in Panola County to Howard Noah and Hazel Mae Burk Blount.  Mr. Blount worked in construction most of his life as a concrete contractor.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and crappie fishing.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, February 14, 2022 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Truman Scarborough and Rev. Cayman Blount officiating.  Interment will follow in the Blount Family Plot at Magnolia Gardens in Paynes.  Family and friends will gather from 9:00 AM until service time Monday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Holland Blount; twin daughters, Nanette Langkawel(Larry) and Annette Davis(Randy); one son, James "Jimmy" Blount, Jr.(Jill) of Louisville, KY; two brothers, Howard Blount of Grenada and Ellis Blount(Lynda) of Independence; six grandchildren, Heather Richoux(Raymond), Autumn Sanford Armstrong, Jonathan Blount(Morgan), Joel Cummins(Elanor), Lizzy Blount, Alyssa Fennell(Kaleb) and four great-grandchildren, Sara Rook, Skyler Reeves, Layla Hughes and Karter Fennell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Bill Blount, Jonathan Blount, Kenzee Blount, Kyle Blount, Wayne Blount and Joel Cummins.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Boone, Al Hankins, Steve Howell, Keith Stanford, Spencer Williams and Ronnie Worsham.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
