Calder
July 21, 1939 – August 25, 2018
Rev. James Elmer Calder, 79, of Coffeeville, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born July 21, 1939 in Tallahatchie County to Alex and Hattie Mae Liles Calder. James surrendered to the ministry in 1964 and had faithfully served as pastor of Sherman Baptist Church in Calhoun County for over 38 years. He was also an avid gardener and a US Army Veteran. Rev. Calder will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather and, most of all, a devoted man of God.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at Calvary Baptist Church near Coffeeville. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann Liles Calder; four daughters, Carol Halderman(Johnny), Linda Caldwell(Jerry) and Kaye Orton, all of Coffeeville and Connie Brinson(Greg) of Brookhaven; nine grandchildren, Bobby Martin(Brandi), Kevin Bray, Alex Bray(Jasmine), Ashley Castello(Walker), Kayti Caldwell, Adam Brinson(Misty), Landon Brinson, Olivia Barnes(Devin) and Maggie Orton; and eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charlie and Glen Calder.
Pallbearers will be Alex Bray, Kevin Bray, Ronnie Bray, Adam Brinson, Landon Brinson and Bobby Martin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Emmitt Brown, Richard Carpenter, Ben Liles and Toy Neal.
