Mr. James Albert Sanford, 88, of Carroll County, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026 at his residence. He was born February 8, 1938 in Glen Allan. Mr. Sanford honorably served our country in the US Air Force. He was a retired shop foreman at Parchman Penitentiary and was also a very skilled mechanic. Mr. Sanford was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed gardening and fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his beloved family.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Bro. Ken Salley officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Bethel Cemetery in Carroll County. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Tuesday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his sons, Andrew Sanford and Edward Sanford, both of Carroll County; sisters, Brenda Ledbetter of Lexington and Louise Gilbert of Greenwood; brothers, George W. “Shorty” King of Kentucky, Johnny King of Brookhaven, Jimmy King of Alabama and Sonny Sanford of Tupelo; five grandchildren, Beth Hood(Kenny), Stacey Sanford(Marco), Jerry Bishop, Matt Sanford and Sean Sanford; and six great-grandchildren, Baleigh Hood, Tucker Hood, Averi Hood, Nico D’Emidio, Gemma Bishop and Eliza Bishop.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Sanford; parents, Ed and Vealtia Huffman King; beloved wife, Elizabeth Sanford; daughter, Louise Sanford; son, Robert Sanford; sisters, Sue King and Linda Bowlin and brothers, David E. King and Benjamin King.

Jerry Bishop, Kenny Hood, Tucker Hood, Matthew Sanford, Jamie Truelove and Neil Young will honor Mr. Sanford by serving as pallbearers. His sons, Andrew and Edward, will serve as honorary pallbearers.
