IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Janie Chapman
Wood
December 3, 1934 – October 6, 2018
Mrs. Janie Wynn Chapman Wood, 83, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2018 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. She was born December 3, 1934 in Grenada County to Eula and Courtney Cunningham Chapman. She retired as a rural mail carrier with the United States Postal Service and was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Grenada. Janie was the epitome of a Southern lady. Her sweet smile was contagious and she always took great joy in Christian service to others. There was never a time she didn't have her grandchildren on her mind – and was always ready to share about the latest happenings in their lives with anyone she encountered. She always enjoyed shopping for clothes and had a sharp eye for fashion. While her outward beauty was always evident, her inner beauty was always shining through with her positive attitude and giving heart. She loved the Lord and taught her family to always look to God for everything. In her later years, as her health declined, the unconditional love that Sykes and Janie had for each other was so evident in the care and devotion that was provided to her. Janie's strength through adversity and her love for Christ are two things that will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, October 8, 2018 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Dr. Jim Nunnelee and Dr. John Boler officiating.
