Mr. James Taylor Evans, known universally and affectionately as "Jay Taylor", age 23, of Holcomb, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in Oxford.  He was born May 24, 2000 in Greenwood.  Jay Taylor attended Grenada High School and worked in the construction industry.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing and also excelled as a baseball player when he was in school.  He never met a stranger and will long be remembered as a man who would give you the shirt off of his back.  He enjoyed riding 4-wheelers and treasured any time he got to spend with his friends.  He will long be remembered for his big heart and contagious smile.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 21, 2024 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Kevin Tribble officiating.  Interment will follow in the Sparta Cemetery near Holcomb.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Saturday evening and one hour prior to the service Sunday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his 8-year-old daughter, Ellie Jayce Evans of Grenada; parents, Amy and Casey McClain and Chris Goss, all of Holcomb; grandparents, Mike and Judy Harmon of Avalon, Sue Carroll of Holcomb and Mike and Becky Thomas of Black Hawk; two sisters, Layney Goss and Maris McClain of Holcomb; three brothers, Jonathan Evans(Erin) of Stewart, Lane Goss and Memphis McClain, both of Holcomb and a host of friends and extended family who loved and will dearly miss him.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Mandy Norwood.

Dorothy Carver, Parker Chunn, Jonathan Evans, Lane Goss, Jake Hobson, Gage Rokasky, Jerry Thomas, Nick Watson and Dee White will honor Jay Taylor by serving as pallbearers and carry him to rest in the Sparta Cemetery.
