Mrs. Jean Smart Moss, 83, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at her residence. She was born April 29, 1937 in Grenada to Guy Presley and Velma Boyd Smart. Jean was a homemaker and had also earned her Nursing Degree, serving for a brief time as an LPN at Grenada County Hospital before leaving that career to care for her husband, Billy, who had been diagnosed with cancer. Jean was a life-long member of Hardy Baptist Church, accepting Christ there as a child, marrying there, and serving alongside husband Billy as a deacon's wife, dedicated Bible study teacher, WMU leader, choir member, church librarian and church historian. Jean was instrumental in making possible the church's 175th anniversary celebration in 2015. Whether leading, teaching, organizing, or ministering, her hands and feet seemed to be everywhere at once as she tirelessly, lovingly, and faithfully served the church and community of Hardy.

A private graveside service will be held Sunday, December 20, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grenada Memorial Garden.

Survivors include one daughter, Joy Moss Miller(Rev. Calvin) of Horn Lake; two sons, Michael Alan Moss of Ramseur, NC and Edward Scott Moss(Cherryl) of Grenada; one sister, Grace Womack(Jim) of Lake Cormorant; one brother, Loyd Smart of Grenada; four grandchildren, Jonathan Miller, Will Moss, Lauren Pate and Callie Coward; three step-grandchildren, Beth Whitsell, Joseph Sykes and Lee Ann Sykes; extended North Carolina family, Diane Moss and her children, Lindsey Crozier(Adam) and Kristin Daily(Michael); 5 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren and 2 step great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Russell "Billy" Moss and a brother, Guy Edward Smart.

Memorials may be directed to Hardy Baptist Church to the attention of Scott Moss, Church Treasurer, at 85 Mays Road, Grenada, MS 38901.
