Mr. Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Staten, 81, of Grenada, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022 at his residence.  He was born February 7, 1941 in Grenada to Thomas Jefferson Staten, Sr. and Elizabeth Perry Staten.  In his youth, Jeff was an avid 4-H member and enjoyed showing cattle.  After graduating high school, he attended one year at Holmes Junior College before joining the Army National Guard.  He served 5 years and was an active reserve member for 3 years before being honorably discharged in 1977.

Jeff married his beloved wife, Joyce Vance Staten, on December 24, 1976.  They had four children.  Paw Paw, as he was fondly called, loved the outdoors.  His favorite hobbies included camping, running trot lines and watching racing.  He worked as Safety Director at Rockwell International and retired from Newsprint South as Warehouse Clerk.

He is survived by his four children, Cindy Kinard(Clint), Dale Staten, Shane Staten(Fran) and Jeffery Warren(Jay); brother, Hal Staten(Ginger); brother-in-law, Bobby Vance(Susan) and sister-in-law, Lisa Hughes(Todd); nine grandchildren, Justin Kinard(Lauren), Kaden Zink, Alex Livingston(Kurt), Haley Kinard, Dylan Staten(Meaghan), Hunter Staten, Leah Kinard, Ethan Staten and Mia Warren and he just found out he was going to be a great-grandpaw.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Joyce Vance Staten and his parents, T.J. and Elizabeth Staten.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, January 2, 2023 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.  Interment will follow in the Grenada Memorial Garden.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until service time Monday at McKibben and Guinn.

Pallbearers will be Matt Hughes, Justin Kinard, Kurt Livingston, Bryan McAdams, Ashley Melton and Hunter Staten.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Mack Costilow, Terry "Dinky" Darby, Pat Hutchinson, Jay McAdams, Wayne Taylor, Les Thomas, Benny Walker and Terence Youngblood.

We are thankful for the precious friends and family that have prayed, visited, called and brought food.  We are grateful and blessed.
