Mr. Jerry Lewis Jenkins, 72, of Gore Springs, passed away Friday, January 27, 2017 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Grenada. He was born July 23, 1944 in Clarksdale to Henry J. and Lillie Belle Lewis Jenkins. Jerry was a retired truck driver and a U.S. Army Veteran having served during the Korean War.
A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Phillip Cook officiating. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include two daughters, Jerri Blackwell and her husband, Brad of Gore Springs and Rebecca Carpenter and her husband, Lester of Gore Springs; one son, Charles Jenkins of Gore Springs; four grandchildren, Christopher Carpenter, Stephen Carpenter, Courtney Carpenter and C.J. Jenkins; three sisters, Sue Timbs and her husband, Charles of Southaven, Joyce Simonaux and her husband, Dalton of Franklin, LA and Carolyn Winter and her husband, Dan of Columbus; two brothers, M.H. "Pete" Jenkins and his wife, Patricia of Franklin, LA and James "Jimmy" Jenkins of Westmoreland, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dorothy Arnold and one brother, Marion Eugene "Buddy" Jenkins.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to his primary caregiver, Courtney Carpenter and Lindsey Harville, Chance Owen, Leslie Bowie and Darin Cohen with Sta-Home Health for the excellent care provided to him.
