Obituary

On January 25, 2026, Jerry Hal Yeoman, 79, of Grenada, Mississippi, passed away peacefully at his home. Jerry was the oldest sibling by 15 minutes, one of two identical twin boys born to William Perry Yeoman and Ethel Cutts Yeoman of Clarksdale Ms.

Jerry excelled in academics in school and attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a teenager. In his sophomore year of high school joined the Navy Reserves. Shortly after graduation he enlisted for active duty in the US Navy and along with his twin brother Perry and his younger brother Tommy, served for two years at the height of the Vietnam War. All three Yeoman brothers were assigned as part of the crew of the famous USS Intrepid (CVS-11) during the Vietnam conflict.

After his military service, Jerry returned to his hometown of Greenwood MS to begin a lifelong career of finance. Later, he graduated from the Mississippi School of Banking in Oxford MS. He worked for several banking institutions before retiring as Sitting President of (formerly) State Bank and Trust Company in Grenada. Jerry was also very involved in civic and community activities. He served as a member of the Board of the Grenada Public Library, was president of the Grenada Chamber of Commerce, and president of the Grenada Rotary Club, receiving the Paul Harris Fellow Award for his contribution and service to the community.

Jerry found great joy in staying active and challenging himself physically and in his younger years was a long-distance runner who participated in regional runs and completed the New Orleans marathon twice. He enjoyed watching all sports, and he especially loved cheering for the Ole Miss Rebels. Jerry could often be found watching games in front of the television, surrounded by a menagerie of rescued cats and dogs who already miss his care and companionship.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Hal Yeoman II (Louise Teem) and his much loved granddaughters, Ansley and Katherine Yeoman, all of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Nicole Yeoman of Louisiana; his twin brother, Perry Yeoman (Julie) of Grenada and brother James Yeoman (Dale) of Carrollton; his sisters, Judy Vail (Eddie) of Greenwood and Gussie Melton of Charleston; and his beloved nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Tommy (Carolyn) of Holcomb.

Jerry is also survived by the love of his life, Jamie Purdie Rogers of Grenada, and her children, all of whom he loved and cherished as his own. They include Jared Rogers (Kellie) of Brandon, MS; Jonathan Rogers (Amee) of Roswell, GA; Roni Rogers of Memphis, TN; and grandchildren, Mia, Maddox and Levi Rogers, who affectionately referred to him as "Happy Jerry."
