Mr. James Atkinson "Jim" Baker, 74, of Grenada, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. He was born November 6, 1944 in Austin, TX to James Edward and Dorothy Atkinson Baker. "Baker", as he was known by his friends, was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and had enjoyed a long, successful career in banking. He began his career at Union Planters Bank in Memphis and later moved his family to Grenada where he accepted a position with Sunburst Bank which later became Union Planters and ultimately, Regions Bank. "Baker" retired as Senior Vice-President of Credit Underwriting with Regions which culminated a 44-year career in banking. He was an avid golfer and his quick wit and dry humor will be missed by many who knew him.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Monday, April 22, 2019 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lee Baker of Grenada; daughter, Lee Ann Williams(James) of Atlanta, GA; son, Scott A. Baker of Oxford; and one grandson, J.V. Williams.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude's.
