Mr. Jimmy Dell Beck, 75, of Grenada, was called home to be with the Lord Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. He was born July 5, 1944 in Carroll County to Clarence Coleman and Tessie Carpenter Beck. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and had served in the Mississippi National Guard. Jimmy Dell was an avid hunter, but his passion was cattle and fishing. Jimmy Dell served on the Grenada County Board of Supervisors for 12 years, eight of those as President. After his time as a Grenada County Supervisor, he ultimately retired after working for a number of years at J.J. Ferguson in Greenwood.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 10, 2019 at Liberty Baptist Church in the Jefferson Community of Carroll County with Rev. James McElroy and Rev. Rick Shepherd officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Saturday at Liberty Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Kathy McGregor Beck; daughter, Darlene Ledbetter(John) of Columbus; one son, Chris Beck of Grenada; two sisters, Peggy Holloway of Grenada and Polly Montgomery of Vaiden; five grandchildren, Michael, McGee, Rebecca, Kimberly and Catherine and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Doris Lott, Aileen Allison, Ruby Pierce and Joy Dean Simmons; and three brothers, J.W., James and Charles Beck.

Pallbearers will be Bill Beck, Danny Beck, Ray Beck, Michael Lott, Drew Parks and Wayne Stark. Honorary Pallbearers will be Paul Carpenter, Phil Embry, Columbus Hankins, Dynamite Kirk, Todd Kyle, Ben McElwrath and Joel Turnipseed.
