Mr. James Cooper “Jimmy” Whitten, 65, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada. He was born January 10, 1961 in Tallahatchie County. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed deer hunting and especially enjoyed fishing at the Grenada Lake Spillway where he made countless friends through the years. Jimmy worked for several years for the Corps of Engineers at Grenada Lake and most recently for Wolfe Farms.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Pastor Mark Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery at Cascilla. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Whitten; mother, Mary Bloom; daughter, Kimberly Whitten; son, Devin Whitten and a sister, Kay Whitten.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Perry “Buster” Whitten and a brother, Wesley Hobgood.

Mike Hoop, Parish Sheffield, Ronnie Staten, Jeff Trusty, Sloan Turner and Johnny Whitten will honor Jimmy by serving as pallbearers. Gale Brower, Jerry Goodson, Joe Simmons and David Wolfe will serve as honorary pallbearers.
