Obituary

Mrs. Jo Annette Felts Ellis, 86, of Carrollton, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024 at her residence.  She was born on January 10, 1938 at the Forest Home in Carrollton to Lewis Bingham and Katie May Teasley Felts.  Mrs. Ellis was an honor graduate of J.Z. George High School and a lifelong resident of the Teoc Community of Carroll County.  A devoted homemaker, Jo Annette strived to do what was necessary to make her house a home.  She also worked as an administrative assistant in their family business and for the United States Postal Service.  Jo Annette was a devout Christian and a faithful member of Malmaison Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served on various church committees.  She faithfully attended ladies' Bible Class and was recognized and honored for teaching Preschool Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes for over 50 years.  Mrs. Ellis was also a faithful patron of Carroll Academy, always willing to help with the activities of her children and grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 22, 2024 at Malmaison Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Bartlett officiating.  Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1:00 PM until service time Friday at Malmaison Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Melissa Ellis Clark of Carrollton, Laurie Ellis Hutchison(Harry) of Jonesboro, AR and Tammie Ellis Coleman of Carrollton; two sons, Leonard David Ellis, Jr. of Cordova, TN and William Dan Ellis of Biloxi; eight grandchildren, Tanya Carpenter, Memrie Grantham, Wyatt Clark, Daniel Hutchison, Richard Hutchison, Cmdr. Andrew Hutchison, USN, Jamie Bartlett and Jeffrey Ellis; 14 great-grandchildren, Devyn Carpenter, Calie Bowen, Makenzie Murphy, Madison Clark, Mary Claire Clark, Luke Hutchison, Lorelai Hutchison, Julian Hutchison, Archie Hutchison, Barrett Bartlett, Sam Bartlett, Paxton Bartlett, Millie Ellis and Fisher Ellis and one great-great-grandchild, Olivia Brooks.

Jo Annette is preceded in death by her parents; husband of over 39 years, Leonard David Ellis and brothers, William Lewis Felts and Donald Edwin Felts.

Jordan Bartlett, Wyatt Clark, Jeffrey Ellis, Michael Ellis, Andrew Hutchison, Daniel Hutchison and Richard Hutchison will honor Mrs. Ellis by serving as pallbearers and carry her to her rest in the Malmaison Baptist Church Cemetery.
