Mrs. Joan Thompson Sharp, of Duck Hill, peacefully entered Heaven on her 91st birthday, Sunday, May 28, 2023 in Perkinston, MS.  She was born May 28, 1932 in Tallahatchie County to Joseph and Virginia Anthony Thompson.  Mrs. Sharp retired after working for many years at Pennaco Hosiery.  She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church – Grenada where she had worked in the Nursery.  A skilled seamstress, she loved to sew and also enjoyed spending time outdoors working in her garden.  Mrs. Sharp will be lovingly remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed for many years to come.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 2, 2023 at the Jenkins Family Cemetery in Sumner with Rev. Lynn Welch officiating.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service.

Survivors include three daughters, Debora Walker(Ronnie) of Perkinston, Elaine Boyle(Michael) of Duck Hill and Sarah Hanson(Mike) of Indianola; four sisters, Faye Clark of Pope, Jettie Whitsell of Mandeville, LA, Mavis King of Washington and Nina Hays of Carrollton; one brother, Corley Thompson of Scobey; five grandchildren, Ron Walker(Amy), Melissa Walker(Chase), Liz Garlington(Shawn), Daniel Walker(Pamela) and Drew Hanson(Natalie); and eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Ashtin, Chance, Joanna, Katie, Luke, Sadie and Kol.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 66 years, Charles Quitman Sharp.
