Bailey, Sr.
February 2, 1931 – May 7, 2025
Mr. John Robert Bailey, Sr., 94, of Holcomb, passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Providence Assisted Living in Grenada. He was born February 2, 1931 in Leflore to George Robert and Oweda Thompson Bailey. Mr. Bailey owned and operated W.E. Jackson The Printer for many years. He was a member of Holcomb Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a deacon for 42 years. He honorably served our country in the United States Army. He enjoyed many hobbies, including hunting, fishing, farming & raising cattle. His most loved hobby was refereeing football and basketball games.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 10, 2025 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. Kevin Tribble officiating. Interment will follow in the Holcomb Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Saturday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia Eubanks(Lee) of Water Valley; son, John Robert Bailey, Jr.(Sheila) of Holcomb; sister, Lallie Fly of Holcomb; seven grandchildren, Alicia Joyner(Austin), Brady White(Kaley), Miles Bailey(Nikki), Anne Claire Anderson(Danny), Pam Taylor(Bill), Mike Eubanks(Tonya) and Cheryl Thomas(Daniel); seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two very special friends, Mary Jones and Happi Ballard & their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lora Nell Bailey; two sisters, Cathron Neal and Dorothy Moore; and three brothers, Leroy, James and Bobby Bailey.
Danny Anderson, Miles Bailey, Andrew Cook, Lee Eubanks, Austin Joyner and Brady White will honor Mr. Bailey by serving as pallbearers and carry him to rest in the Holcomb Cemetery. Aiden Bailey and Tommy Jackson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to Providence Assisted Living and Adoration Home Health and Hospice for the wonderful care extended to Mr. Bailey.
