John R. Cox, Jr., 72, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center - Grenada.  He was born November 18, 1951 in Jackson, Tennessee to John Rogers Cox, Sr. and Velma Dorris Cox.  John graduated from John Rundle High School and earned a degree in education from Delta State University.  He taught history at the Grenada School District for over 20 years where he earned numerous awards and accolades including statewide History Teacher of the Year.  John was a member of First Baptist Church and was faithfully cared for by their Home Bound ministry.  John loved the Ole Miss Rebels.  He was an avid train collector because of his love for the railroad where his dad and uncle worked.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Holly Springs, Mississippi.

Survivors include his 94-year-old aunt, Mrs. Loyce Cox and a host of cousins, caregivers and friends.

Mr. Cox is preceded in death by his parents and his Uncle Joe Cox.

Ron Anderson, Blake Kimbrough, Pitt Kimbrough and Freddie Vance will serve as pallbearers. Mike Moore and Bubba Vance will serve as honorary pallbearers.
