Obituary

John Bernard Daly, 82, passed away peacefully on Good Friday, April 19, after a short bout with cancer, at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Davis and Kathy Baker in Columbus, MS.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick R. and Elizabeth Daly and a sister, Helen Hailey. Survivors include four sisters, Patricia Kelley of Nashville, TN, Mary Daly of Grenada, Dorothy Spencer (Ed) of Jackson, MS, Kathy Baker (Davis) Columbus, MS; and a brother, Bill Daly (Sharon) of Grenada – in addition to a host of nieces and nephews.

John was born August 13, 1936 in Meridian, MS, but spent his formative years in Bardstown, KY where he developed his love for horses. He moved to Grenada, MS in 1952 where he graduated from John Rundle High School. He then proudly volunteered and served a 3-year term in the US Army. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, John completed his education by obtaining a degree in General Business from Mississippi State College. His professional career was in the General Accounting Department with Plough, Inc. (makers of Coppertone & St. Joseph Aspirin) in Memphis, TN.

Mr. Daly was an active communicate of St. Peters Catholic Church and was involved in The Knights of Columbus and all its activities. He was a devoted follower of all things cowboy, rodeo and Mississippi State.

McKibben and Guinn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation will be Monday, April 22 at 1:00 followed by a funeral mass at 2:00, all at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Grenada.
