Mr. John Alfred Sidney Martin, 79, of Grenada, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2020 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada.  He was born January 23, 1941 in Grenada to Sayles Allen, Sr. and Ruth Elizabeth Jackson Martin.  He spent most of his working life employed at Randall Textron and Heatcraft in Grenada.  Mr. Martin honorably served our country in the National Guard and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church.  An accomplished musician, he enjoyed playing the piano and guitar and also wrote and recorded his own music.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Grenada Memorial Garden with Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiating.

Survivors include four daughters, Johnnie Harrison of Grenada, Kathy Williamson(Stanley) of Rosebloom, Julie Martin of Tupelo and Amanda Duke(Glen) of Grenada; two brothers, Sayles Martin, Jr. of Grenada and George Martin of Amory; seven grandchildren, Brian Eads, Elizabeth Eads, Jonathan Harrison, Anna Gillespie, Kaitlin Henson, Michele McCarley and Payton Duke; and three great-grandchildren, Harper Harrison, Grace Gillespie and Olivia McCarley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Ruby Frances Voyles Martin.

Pallbearers will be Glen Duke, Payton Duke, Brian Eads, Jonathan Harrison, Lee Jackson, Chris Martin, Harry McCarley and Stanley Williamson.
