Obituary

Funeral services for John Cole Mitchell of Memphis are scheduled for Friday, November 30, at McKibben & Guinn Funeral Service, Grenada, Mississippi. Viewing will be at 9:00 A.M. and the service at 10:00 A.M. Pastor Johnny Buckner of Starkville will officiate. Burial will be at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Grenada. Rob Townes, Shawn McGhee, Scott Stribling, George Ramsey, Chris Crawford, and Lewis Brown will serve as pallbearers.

John Cole Mitchell was born in Grenada, Mississippi, on April 20, 1957, to John and Roberta Mitchell. Most of his growing-up years were spent in Starkville, Mississippi. He graduated from Starkville Academy in 1975, where he was an all-star basketball and baseball player. He graduated from the University of Mississippi in 1980 with a degree in business and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Most of Cole's professional years were spent with FedEx in Memphis. Cole was blessed by listening to messages by Dr. Charles Stanley. He was an avid Ole Miss Rebels and New York Yankees fan and loved his silky terrier Marlie. Cole passed away on November 22, 2018, at Germantown Methodist Hospital, following complications from a lung infection.

Family members left behind are his step-mom Ann Mitchell, sister Miller Ferrie (Paul), nephew Daniel Ferrie, special friend/adopted brother Scot Robinson, step-sister Leslie McAllister (Todd), step-brother Britt McAllister, first cousins Allen Cunningham, Melodye Ruby, and Rob Townes (Lynnsay). Cole was preceded in death by his parents, John and Roberta Mitchell.
