Mr. Joseph Jackson Stevenson, 71, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2021 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada.  He was born November 3, 1949 in Tallahatchie County to Oliver Vonley and Rachel Elizabeth McNeely Stevenson.  Mr. Stevenson spent most of his working life as a correctional officer at the Mississippi State Penitentiary at Parchman.  He attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church near Gore Springs.  An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, September 24, 2021 at the Grenada Memorial Garden with Rev. Franklin Dunn officiating.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Patsy Stevenson; three daughters, Rebecca Stevenson of Protem, MO, Nancy Jo Simmons(Buddy) of Gore Springs and Lucy Verda Stevenson of Grenada; one son, Timothy Stevenson of Grenada; two brothers, Vernon Stevenson of Canton, GA and Dan Stevenson of Grenada; four grandchildren, Austin Howard, Joshua Smith, Zoey Simmons and Jayden Stevenson; and five great-grandchildren, Dakota Howard, William Richards, Anna Stevenson, Charlie Stevenson and Brianna Stevenson.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Mike Stevenson.

Pallbearers will be Wayne Greer, Austin Howard, David Howard, Buddy Simmons, Timothy Stevenson and Buddy Winters.
