Obituary

Mr. James Ray "J.R." Lee, Sr., 79, of Holcomb, passed away Saturday, September 3, 2022 at his daughter's residence in Philipp.  He was born August 11, 1943 in Mashulaville to Robert Fulton and Ira Ray Lee.  J.R. had worked for a number of years at Randall-Textron and Rockwell in Grenada.  Later in life, he worked as a truck driver and farmer.  Mr. Lee was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church at Oxberry where he was recently recognized as serving as a Deacon for 25 years.  J.R. loved the outdoors and squirrel hunting with his beloved dog, Bud.  He was a devoted family man and cherished the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  While his death leaves a hole in the hearts of those who loved him, we find comfort in knowing he held in his soul the cure to death, a relationship with Jesus Christ.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, September 5, 2022 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Stanley Turner and Rev. Millard Caulder officiating.  Immediately following the service, he will be laid to rest in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lynda Trusty Lee; daughter, Nessie Livingston(Keith) of Philipp; son, James Ray "Jaye" Lee, Jr.(Ginny) of Whiteland, IN; two sisters, Dorothy Pickle(Larry) of Grenada and Alice Faye Reeves(Henry) of Coffeeville; three brothers, Benny Lee(Edna) of Grenada, Lamar Lee(Barbara) of Water Valley and Felbert Lee of Lithuania; four grandchildren, Krystle Carmical(James), Karlee Livingston(Brad), Kylie Lee(Justin) and Sydney Lee; and five great-grandchildren, Drake Carmical, Drayten Carmical, Bayler Rae Carmical, Kaysen Stevens and Ava Hutchins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mary Opal Liddell and Frances Bennett Walley.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Bishop, Drake Carmical, Josh Coffman, Sam Liddell, Kaysen Stevens, Elliott Watson and Randy Welch.
