Obituary

Judy Hayden Mims passed away on the evening of September 24, 2018, at her home in Holcomb. Born October 18, 1947, to Dotson "Dot" Hayden and Mary Gary Hayden, Judy was the youngest of their three daughters. After graduating from John Rundle High School, she obtained a degree in Biology from Mississippi State College for Women.

On August 15, 1971, Judy married her soulmate, Marvin Taylor Mims. She is survived by her husband and their three children: Marvin Russell Mims (Toni), of Holcomb, Allison Mims Melton (Corey), of Holcomb, and Hayden Mims Linley (Robbie), of Clarksdale. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, John Lake Melton, Mary Hayden Melton, Noah Linley, Jana Mims, Taylor Melton, Russell Mims, Anna Mims Linley and Sarah Melton, whom she adored and was likewise adored by.

Like her two older sisters, Dorothy Hayward, of Holcomb, and Mary Ethel Muns, of Madison, Judy was known for her striking blue eyes and ready smile. For many years, Judy served as a faithful member of Holcomb Baptist Church, serving on a variety of committees in service to her church family. She possessed a special gift for music, which she shared along with her love for the Lord as long-time church organist and choir member.

Judy leaves a legacy of love, service, and kindness in the hearts and minds of all who knew her. One of her many talents was that of cooking and entertaining family and friends. She shared that gift as well by leading a team of devoted employees at Mr. Jiffy, who loved her as a friend and mentor. A devoted spouse, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was a constant encourager, full of grace and dignity. Both her exuberant spirit and boundless energy will be sorely missed by all who had the blessing of having known her.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Holcomb Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Holcomb Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until service time Thursday at the church.

Pallbearers will be Andy Brasher, Josh Coffman, Robert Smith, Hunt Toole, Mike Turner and Larry Wiggins.
