Mr. John William "J.W." Abel, 77, of Grenada, passed away Friday, May 16, 2025 at his residence.  He was born December 20, 1947 in Carrollton to William "Bill" and Edith McCluskey Abel.  J.W. owned several businesses in the area, including Abel's Used Cars.  He was a member of First Baptist Church – Grenada and also served with Gideons International.  A man deeply devoted to his family, J.W. cherished the time he got to spend with his grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 19, 2025 at First Baptist Church – Grenada with Rev. Zach Sanford and Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until service time at First Baptist Church – Grenada.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Abel; daughter, Natalie Abel Kimbrough(Robert) of Grenada; and three grandchildren, Case, Keeton and Robbie Kimbrough.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Johnny Abel.

Johnny Allen, Jermol Brock, Jimmy Brock, Jerry Brooks, Dennis Holley, Ken Holley, Neal Marlow and Justin Ward will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jesse Grant, Jeff Little and Tim Little.
