IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Katie
Patterson
June 3, 1938 – January 15, 2023
Mrs. Katie Sue Patterson, 84, of Gore Springs, MS, passed away Sunday, January 15th at Baptist Memorial Nursing Home in Calhoun City, MS. She was born June 3, 1938 in Grenada, MS to Peskie Martin and Thelma Marter Clanton. Katie was a bus driver and teacher assistant at Eupora Schools for many years and enjoyed getting to work with children. She drove bus number nine down many miles of Webster county roads and told many stories of her days and the community children along her route. She enjoyed joking with people and playing Rook where she was known to cheat a little. She struggled after losing her husband, "Jerry" Dean Patterson, Sr. of 56 years in 2019, but was at home until she got covid and had to go to the hospital in 2020 where she had to stay by herself for the first time in her life. Post covid, she was not able to return to her home and lived out the remainder of her life at the Calhoun County nursing home where she said that everyone was so nice to her, the food was good (but they gave her too much) and she felt safe.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Bradford Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Jon Haimes officiating. She will be laid to rest at Bradford Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Gore Springs. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
She is survived by one son, Jerry "Dean"(Susan)Patterson, Jr. of Gore Springs, MS; one daughter, Kay (Larry Wayne) Parker of Oxford, MS; four granddaughters, Amelia Parker, Laura, Rachel and Sarah Patterson and one grandson, Landon Parker.
She is preceded in death by her parents as well as three brothers; Jack, Doyle and Gayle Clanton and one infant sister, Dorothy Dell.
Pallbearers will be Landon Parker, Sam Marter, Wayne Clanton, Barry Clanton, Tony Wayne Clanton and Brent Dixon.
