Obituary

Keith Langley Watson, 64, resided in Holcomb, MS in the house he built. A graduate of Kirk Academy, Mississippi Delta Community College, and Mississippi State University, he worked as the Chief Land Appraiser for First South Farm Credit until he retired this past January. As a child Keith was a member of the Boy Scouts of America receiving the title of Eagle Scout. He was an avid angler and hunter, involved with all things outdoors from turkey, coon, deer, duck, squirrel and hog hunting to fishing. One of his favorite past times, however, was spending hours on horseback. A member of Holcomb United Methodist Church, Keith gave to those in need, no matter how big or small for family, friend, or stranger. To his friends he was known as Hawkeye, Hawk for short, and to his children and grandchildren he was fondly known as Pop.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 29, 2023 at the Holcomb United Methodist Church with Rev. Janie Mortimer and Rev. Rick Shepherd officiating.  Interment will follow in the Holcomb Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Saturday at Holcomb United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Fred Watson and grandparents, George William and Letha Watson, as well as Jim and Beulah Elliott.

Survivors include his mother, Barbara Watson; sister, Lydia McCardle (Mike) of Brandon; daughter, Clara Grace Watts (Andrew) of Brandon; son, Elliott Watson (Jessica) of Holcomb; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kylon, Karson, Will, Charly, Finley and Logan.

Pallbearers will be Josh Carver, Josh Coffman, Shannon Harris, Greg Hodges, Cliff Holland, Milton Kilgore, Billy Ryals, and Glen Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Carver, Walton Carver, Buddy Gray, Al Hankins, Charlie Holland, and Johnny Little.
