Mrs. Kitty Mack Powell McNeer, 71, of Duck Hill, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2023 at her residence.  She was born February 2, 1952 in Cleveland to Robert Maurice and Kitty McReynolds Powell.  Kitty was a loyal Mississippi State Bulldog and earned a degree in Special Education from there in 1974.  Kitty taught at Greenbrook Elementary in Southaven, Southaven Junior High School and ultimately retired after a long career in education from the Grenada School District.  Kitty loved to teach and inspire the students that she was entrusted with to do their best.  She also enjoyed painting and reading.  A true "sports mom" when her boys were growing up, she cherished the time she got to spend with her boys and their friends traveling far and wide to play ball.  Kitty was also a model pastor's wife and always supported the ministry of her husband at the churches where they served.  While we mourn her death, we celebrate her life knowing she held in her soul the cure to death – a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 19, 2023 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday evening and one hour prior to the service Thursday all at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Rev. Jerry McNeer; son, Caleb McNeer(Arianna Singh) of Buford, GA; two brothers, Rice Powell(JoAnne) of Andover, MA and Wally Powell(Coleen) of Jackson; her sister-in-law who was also her caregiver, Pam Bowers; and two beloved pets, Buddy and Hobo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her son, Joshua Maurice McNeer.

Hunter Grantham, Jeremy Grantham, Will Thimmes, Justin Timbs, Morris Timbs and Mark Turner will honor Kitty by serving as pallbearers and carry her to rest in the Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
