IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Larry Lloyd
Grantham
April 18, 1943 – July 25, 2025
Mr. Larry Lloyd Grantham, 82, of Grenada, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi in Oxford.
Born April 18, 1943, in Grenada to Lloyd and Louise Cohea Grantham, Larry was a proud graduate of John Rundle High School and went on to earn a degree in accounting from the University of Mississippi. While at Ole Miss, he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and began his military service through the University's Army ROTC program.
Larry honorably served in the United States Army, holding posts around the globe including Korea, Ft. Holabird (MD), Vietnam, Hawaii, and Ft. Benning (GA). He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain after a distinguished career in Military Intelligence. Among his fondest memories were the years stationed in Hawaii, where he enjoyed both the work and wearing "Aloha" shirts.
He and his beloved wife of 60 years, Cheryl James Grantham, made their home in Grenada, where they were members of First Baptist Church. Larry had a zest for life and treasured time spent crappie fishing and making memories with his grandchildren. Before his move to the Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford in 2020, he was a regular with his afternoon coffee crew at Catfish Corner, where his optimism and warm spirit were well-known and cherished.
Larry is survived by his wife, Cheryl; daughter, Christa Grantham Cox (Trent) of Hernando; son, Brad Grantham of Oxford; brother, Dick Grantham (Lesa) of Collierville, TN; two grandchildren, Anna Claire and Cade Cox; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at the Mississippi Veterans Home in Oxford for the loving and compassionate care Larry received.
In a final act of service, Larry became a donor to the Department of Veterans Affairs Biorepository Brain Bank, helping advance critical research for fellow veterans with neurological conditions.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Dr. Kevin Jackson officiating.
