Lois Faye Denton Lemley, 91, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 4, 2015, at the Grenada Living Center in Grenada, MS.
She was born on December 14, 1923, in Russellville, AR, to the late Willie & Ethel Martindale Bennett. She retired as a nurse from Golden Age Nursing Home in Greenwood, MS. She always enjoyed family and friends. They were the joy of her life, and she was characterized by her deep, unconditional love for all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Shelby Jean Denton Storey; a son, Willie Ray Denton; two step-sons, Gerald Lemley and Marvin Lemley; her husbands, Sam Denton; Isador Lehman; and Buford Lemley; three brothers, Clyde Bennett, Lemond Bennett, and Doyle Brown; two sisters, Thelma Ramsey, and a childhood sister; and six grandchildren, Harmon Denton, Walley Hilmus, Tracey Denton, Buddy Hilmus, Alfred Hilmus, Missy Hilmus.
She is survived by a daughter, Barbara Denton Hilmus of Greenwood; two sons, I.D. and Myra Denton of Ruleville, MS; and Drew and Martha Denton of Winona; two step-daughters, Elaine Lemley of Greenwood; and Richard and Judy Corder of Carrollton, MS; 13 grandchildren, Denton Hilmus of Holcomb, MS; Barbara "Bobby" Hilmus Grantham of Carrollton; Glenda Oswalt Barron of Gardner, LA; Jamie Storey Wiggins of Grenada, MS; D Denton and Sam Denton, both of Ruleville; Tony Denton, Gay Denton Boshers, and James Denton, all of Greenwood; Kim Denton Littleton of Carrollton; Keith Denton of Tonkawa, OK; Delana Denton Hemphill of Louisville, MS; several step-grandchildren; and many great, great-great, and great-great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time Tuesday, July 7, 2015. A service honoring Ms. Lemley's life will begin at 2:00 PM. Visitation and services will be held at First Apostolic Church, 561 Futheyville Rd., Grenada, MS. Burial service will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Vaiden, MS under the direction of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.
