IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lorene
Sanders
June 4, 1934 – September 29, 2024
Annie Lorene Woods Ingram Morgan Sanders
Lorene Sanders, 90, passed away peacefully at her home on September 29, 2024, and now resides in her heavenly home. She was the heart and soul of our family and will be greatly missed.
Lorene was born in Tallahatchie County, MS on June 4, 1934 to Charles Lenoil Woods and Glendora Woods Beckum.
She is survived by her loving family: sons Billy C. Morgan (Barbara)of Lompoc, California and Steve Morgan (Dianne) of Elliott, MS; daughter-in-law Beverly Sanders Whitt of Elliott, MS; sister Mildred McKee of Winona, MS; brother Frank Woods of Elkhart, Indiana; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Lorene's life was also touched by loss having been preceded in death by her dad Charles Lenoil Woods, mom Glendora Woods Beckum, husbands Clyde Morgan and Roy A. Sanders, sons Larry Ingram, Mike Morgan Sr., and Roy D. (Scooter) Sanders, and siblings Elizabeth Lott, Lenoil Woods, and Emmitt Woods.
Lorene worked as a waitress at a few places, but most remember her working at the Holiday Inn Restaurant. There were times she was tired especially if she worked a double shift, but she still gave her all to make sure each customer received excellent service.
Lorene's many flowers brought her such joy in her life. With the biggest smile on her face, she would be proudly naming every flower and plant in her yard. She had a green thumb that could make everything she touched grow and multiply. Lorene also had a love for sewing. Thanks to her mom, she developed passion for it.
Lorene has been a member at Elliott Baptist Church for over fifty years. She is also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. Bro. Billy Little will officiate and Bro. Michael Payton will assist. Lorene will be laid to rest with her loved ones in the Elliott Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 1:00 PM until service time Wednesday at McKibben and Guinn.
