Vaiden

Obituary

Ms. Lori Turbeville Pickle, 57, of Vaiden, passed away on September 22, 2026, in Winona.  Lori was born February 16, 1969, in Winona to George Willis Turbeville, Jr. and Miriam Rebecca Alexander Turbeville. From an early age, she showed a love of learning that would shape the course of her life. She went on to earn her first Master's Degree from Mississippi State University in Media and Library Science, and later returned to school to earn a Master's in Educational Administration and Leadership from Jackson State University. Her dedication to education was evident throughout her career as both a teacher and administrator in the Holmes and Madison County Schools, where she touched the lives of countless students and colleagues.

As accomplished as Lori was in her professional life, her truest calling was being a mother. Her daughter, Madeline, was the light of her life, and every moment they shared together was treasured. Those who knew Lori best often said that her greatest joy came simply from being with Madeline — whether in quiet, everyday moments or in life's bigger milestones. That love was the heartbeat of who she was.

Lori was a member of Vaiden Methodist Church, where her faith provided comfort and guidance throughout her life.  Lori will be remembered for her sharp mind, her devotion to her students, and above all, her boundless love for her daughter. She leaves behind a legacy of learning, kindness, and the kind of love that lingers in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Memorial service plans are private.

Survivors include her daughter, Madeline Pickle of Vaiden; sister, Kim Daniel(John) of Madison; and a niece, Addley Fisher of Madison.

Lori was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Melissa Thomas.
