Mrs. Lou Sargent, 95, of Grenada, passed from this life to the arms of her Lord on April 11, 2022.  Mrs. Sargent was born March 2, 1927 to L.P. and Magilou Lowe Hemphill.  She worked for the Elizabeth Jones Library for 20 years. She was active in the Eastern Star for several years and she enjoyed playing cards with friends. She loved working in the yard and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church – Grenada as long as her health allowed.  Lou married Fancher Gerald Sargent on April 14, 1943 in Ackerman, MS and they enjoyed 69 wonderful years together.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, April 14, 2022 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating.  Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Memorial Park.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Thursday at McKibben and Guinn.

She is survived by her sister, Faye Gardner(Bill); two sons, Fancher (Sarge) Sargent(Diann) and Brad Sargent; 4 grandchildren, Paula Vittitow(Patrick), Fancher Sargent(Carrie), Michael Sargent(Sarah) and Donna Randle(Chris); five great grandchildren Ella, Jack, Eva, Kate, Lexie and a host of nephews and nieces

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Gerald Sargent and one son, Stan Sargent.

Pallbearers will be Gary Crafton, Mark Hemphill, Fancher Sargent and Michael Sargent.
