Obituary

Mrs. Mary Louise Nelson Roark, 95, of Grenada, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Providence Assisted Living.  She was born September 3, 1925 in Coffeeville to James Henry and Virginia Lee O'Bryant Nelson.  Prior to retirement, Louise spent over 35 years working at Pennaco Hosiery in Grenada.  She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada and previously was a long-time member of First Baptist Church – Grenada.  Louise had a contagious smile and sweet spirit and had the unique ability to make anyone feel at ease in her presence.  She adored her family and was a blessing to all who knew her.

A private graveside service will be held at the Woodlawn Memorial Park on Friday, December 11, 2020 with Bro. Ken Salley officiating.

Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Roark Yopp of Grenada; brother, Elton Nelson of Southaven; three grandchildren, Angela Myers(Jeff) of Blue Springs, Jennifer Burd(Brian) of Southaven and Stephen Yopp(Kelly) of Grenada; six great-grandchildren, Audra Myers, Carys Burd, Lana Yopp, Aiden Burd, Conor Burd and Liam Yopp; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Wesley Roark; and four brothers, Robert, James, Bruce and Billy Nelson.

Memorials may be directed to the charity of the donor's choice.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff at Providence Assisted Living and Adoration Hospice for the love and care shown to Louise and the family during this time.
