Louise Clanton Trussell passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 24, 2020. She was 93, born January 29, 1927 in Sabougla, MS to Mallory H. and Effie Cooper Clanton. She was raised in the Cadaretta community, attended Springhill schools and was a graduate of Holmes Junior College.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita T Bales of Brandon, son Mickey Trussell (Sandra) of Gore Springs, 4 grandchildren: Joey Trussell (Amy) of Gore Springs, Jennifer Trussell of Boca Raton, FL, Jessica Emmons (Josh) and Jaime Bales of Brandon. She is also survived by a sister, Jean Stewart of Grenada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Brack, Melvin and Travis Clanton all of Cadaretta, one sister Odean Middleton of West Point, MS and son-in-law Tony Bales of Brandon, MS.
Louise worked many years as a legal secretary for attorney William O. Semmes. After his retirement, she began her second career as purchase clerk for Grenada County. She served for more than 25 years before retiring at the age of 76. She was a long term member of First Baptist Church of Grenada, where she sang in the choir. For many years, she was a member of the Pilot Club, serving a term as president from 1984 to 1985 and also a member of the Business and Professional Women's Foundation (BPW). As an excellent seamstress, she made everything from Barbie doll dresses to evening gowns for her daughter and granddaughters. She loved remodeling and updating her house, and enjoyed working in her yard.
A private graveside service will be held Friday, June 26 th at Bradford Chapel cemetery.
