Obituary

Mrs. Mable Ercile Whitfield Hall, 95, of Grenada, passed away to her Heavenly home Sunday, April 3, 2022.  Mable was born May 16, 1926 in the Jefferson community of Carroll County.  She was the oldest of seven children born to Code Dean Whitfield and Vera Myrtle Woods Whitfield.  She spent her early life in northern Carroll County near Holcomb.  She attended Valley School, Holcomb School and graduated from Sunflower High School in Moorhead, MS.  She moved to Memphis after graduation and worked at Sears.  In 1947, she married W.C. Hall, Jr. and moved to Vicksburg.  Two children were born to this union: Jerry Michael Hall(1948) and Lydia Diane Hall(1952).

Mable was always busy working in her yard, gardening, cooking, sewing, collecting genealogy facts and scrapbooking.  She was a secretary for several businesses in Grenada before opening a day nursery in her home.  At the age of 63, she enrolled at Holmes Community College.

Mable enjoyed life and meeting people.  She always wanted to give her guests a flower cutting to root.  She was a long-time member of First Baptist Church – Grenada and loved learning about God from Mrs. Ruby Hudson's teachings.  Her love for God sustained her in the hard times and the good times.  She adored her family and would always tell you something good about them.  She will certainly be missed, but she is rejoicing in Heaven with her parents, siblings and friends now.  Rest in peace Miss Mable, Mrs. Hall, Little Mae, Mother and MeeMaw.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 4, 2022 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiating.  Interment will follow in the Moore's Memorial Cemetery in Carroll County.  Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service Monday at McKibben and Guinn.
