Mrs. Margaret Herren Boyd, 98, of Gore Springs, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2017. She was born June 2, 1918 in Hinds County to Reuben Dougal and Florence Walls Herren. She was a homemaker, an excellent cook and an avid letter writer. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Hinds County for over 60 years and enjoyed being a member of Hebron Baptist Church in Grenada after moving to be close to her daughter.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at Hebron Baptist Church in Grenada. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 PM Tuesday in the Chapel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Hinds County. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at Hebron Baptist Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the graveside service at Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Hinds County.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris Nation (Cecil) of Gore Springs; son, Barry Boyd (Regena) of Pontotoc; one sister, Ann Franklin of Bastrop, LA; one brother, Henry Herren of Utica; six grandchildren, Boyd Nation (Tasha), Philip Nation (Becky), Paul Nation (Jeanne), Joy Wear (Adam), Susan Boyd and Anna Boyd; and eleven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Earl Boyd; one son, Phillip Boyd; two sisters, Julia Prevost and Doris Greer; and three brothers, Milton, R.D. and Ralph Herren.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Nation, Boyd Nation, Joseph Nation, Paul Nation, Philip Nation and Adam Wear. Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
