Obituary

Margie McCorkle Mullen passed away on May 13, 2015 while in hospice care at Grenada Living Center. Margie was born in Carroll County on May 5, 1926 the fourth of seven children born to William Andrew and Vivian McCorkle.
After graduating, she moved to Grenada and worked in the shell plant for the war effort. Working there she met and married her husband of sixty-six years Spencer A. Mullen, Jr. She continued to work at the hosiery mill for thirty plus years.
Margie was always active in her children's life and so enjoyed watching her grandchildren participating in their various activities. Along with her husband, they were charter members of Emmanuel Baptist Church. There she taught Sunday School, VBS and was involved in various other programs within the church. She was a Pink Lady with the GLMC Auxiliary. One of her many loves was working in her yard and watching football games.
She leaves behind a daughter, Debbie Bailey, grandchildren, Jason (Betsy) Bailey, Tabor (Jackie) Mullen, Lynn (Will) Russell; great-grandchildren, Ali Bailey Hargett, Mari Wilton Bailey, Vivi Bailey, Carson Mullen and Liam Russell. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Spencer A. Mullen, Jr.; son, Greg Mullen and grandson, Chad Bailey.
The family would like to thank her loving sitters; Joy Baker, Shirley Hendricks and the wonderful staff at Legacy Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, May 15, 2015 from the Chapel of McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Dr. Clarence Cooper, Rev. Barry Worrell and Dr. Brent Barker officiating. Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM Friday afternoon at the funeral home.
