IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Marvin R.
Cutler
February 18, 1937 – January 10, 2021
Mr. Marvin R. Cutler, 83, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS. He was born in Grenada, MS on February 18, 1937. Marvin loved growing up in Grenada and the fun times he shared with all his Finney aunts, cousins and friends. He graduated from John Rundle High School in 1955 and from Mississippi State University in 1959 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. After working for Westinghouse in Indianapolis, IN, he returned home to Mississippi, raising his daughters and starting his own business in Batesville.
After moving back to Grenada in 1973, Marvin joined All Saints' Episcopal Church as an active member, serving on the vestry and as Junior Warden. While living in Olive Branch he was a member of St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Southaven, where he was on the vestry and served as Senior Warden. Marvin truly had a heart for those in need, often helping and encouraging others behind the scenes.
After retiring, Marvin enjoyed traveling, computer work and repairing antique radios. He continued to embrace a menagerie of mismatched and beloved pets, and he enjoyed the company and love of his family and grandchildren. Those who love him will miss his twinkling blue eyes, his sweet smile, and his fun-loving spirit.
A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada, MS. Social distancing/mask guidelines will be followed. The Rev. Elizabeth Wheatley Jones will officiate the service.
He is survived by his wife, Nina Cutler; his daughters, Lisa Bounds (Sam) and Julie Farrell (Jake); his four grandchildren, Sarah Merriman, Patrick Merriman, John Lake Merriman and Caroline Farrell; four step-sons, Stephen Thimmes(Julie), David Thimmes, Patrick Thimmes(Kim), and Paul Thimmes(Perry Anne); and seven step-grandchildren, Anna Claire Bowen, Kathryn Thimmes, Will Thimmes, Lauren Thimmes, Wagner Thimmes, Glen Thimmes and Hawkins Thimmes.
Mr. Cutler was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Mary Finney Cutler and his father, Jack Cutler, his dear Finney aunts and uncles, and his first cousin and friend, Cas Heath, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Sam Bounds, Jake Farrell, John Lake Merriman, Bailey Muselwhite, Will Thimmes and Wagner Thimmes.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the food pantry at All Saints' Episcopal Church in Grenada, MS or St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Southaven.
