Mrs. Mary Moore Sullivan Avant, 73, of the Teoc Community, passed away Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at her residence. She was born August 21, 1943 in Oklahoma to Rodney and Evelyn Herbert Moore. She was a retired factory worker and a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 18, 2017 at Moore Memorial Cemetery in Carroll County with Rev. Lanny Haley officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday evening at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.

Survivors include her husband, William Avant; one daughter, Cheryl Sullivan Walker (Stacy) of Tupelo; one brother, Carey Wayne Moore of Teoc; three grandchildren, Kristen Walker Queen (Joseph) of Brandon, Heather Walker Carroll (Blake) of Madison and Jacob Landon Walker of Tupelo; two great-grandchildren, Kennedy Queen and Walker Queen, both of Brandon; one step-daughter, Cindy Avant Hughes (John) of Petal; two step-sons, David Cheek (Lisa) of Coila and Ronnie Cheek (Angie) of Carrollton; four step-grandchildren, Hillary Hughes and Walt Hughes, both of Petal, Allen Cheek of Byram and Nicole Cheek of Clinton; one step-great-grandchild, Maddox Box of Clinton; one niece, Erin Moore Herrington of Brandon and a nephew, Jason Moore of Teoc.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Pallbearers will be David Cheek, Ronnie Cheek, John Hughes, Walt Hughes and Jason Moore.
