Mrs. Mary Jane Wilson Blair, 83, of the Jefferson Community of Carroll County, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2018 in Oxford. She was born May 23, 1935 in North Carrollton to Mike and Virgie Pauline Arbuckle Wilson. She was a 1954 graduate of J.Z. George High School and was a devoted homemaker who always put others first. Mrs. Blair was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU and served as a Sunday school teacher. She always had a heart for missions and evangelism, having been saved at a Billy Graham Crusade in Jackson in the 1950s. She had served on the Mississippi Baptist Association Women's Missionary Union Board of Directors, was a founder of the Grenada Jail Ministry for Ladies and had been on several mission trips to Honduras. She was also honored to serve as a Lady Colonel during Governor Bill Waller's administration.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Liberty Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Tanner and Rev. John Gray officiating. Gary Blair will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Saturday afternoon and one hour prior to the service Sunday all at Liberty Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Janet Blair Bates(Daryl) of Burleson, TX and Paula Blair Robbins(Doye) of Amory; one son, Gary A. Blair(Johanna) of Brookhaven; two sisters, Sarah Smith of Grenada and Joyce Windham(Jerry) of Grenada; six grandchildren, Jonathan Blair(Jordana), Randy Bates(Laura), Jeanie Robinson(Chase), Ashley Glasz(Josh), Jessica Jackson(Tyler) and Rebecca Robbins; six great-grandchildren, Peyton Robbins, Charlie Robinson, Braelyn Bates, Walker Bates, Cooper Glasz and Anna Parker Robinson; great-aunt, Annie Mae Wilson of Carrollton; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her aunt and uncle who raised her, Cliff and Vashti King; her husband, Claver Jesse Blair; and a brother, Mike Wilson.
Pallbearers will be Sam Allen Ayers, Randy Bates, Jonathan Blair, Jeoffrey Branham, David DuBard, Josh Glasz, Chase Robinson, Terry Whitfield and Jerry Wayne Windham.
