Ms. Mary Gail Scallions Busby, 76, of Duck Hill, passed away Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the Elvis Presley Trauma Center at Regional One Health in Memphis, TN.  She was born December 5, 1948 in Grenada to Freelon and Fannie Kendall Scallions.  Mary was a former manager of the Fred's Dollar Store in Grenada and a member of Zion Grove Church of God of Prophecy.  Mary enjoyed gardening as a pastime, but spent most of her time caring for children – many of whom were not hers by blood, but she "mothered" them just like they were her own.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Rev. William Tribble and Rev. Tim Winters officiating.  Interment will follow in the Holcomb Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include two daughters, Leigh Wilkey of Oakland and Brandice Busby of Grenada; three sisters, Leresa Prewitt, Bobbie Melton and Brenda Mullen, all of Holcomb; one brother, Charles Scallions of Gore Springs; eight grandchildren, Kalee Busby, Shelby Timbs, Dakota Greer, Sara Kelly, Dallas Greer, Stormy Carroll, Summer Busby and Jayden Busby; a host of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a special friend, Joe Timbs of Duck Hill.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents; father of her children, Morris Busby; daughters, Charity Greer and Morrissa Busby; granddaughter, Emily Busby; and two brothers, Earl and Ronnie Scallions.

Terry Bailey, Riley Busby, Dakota Greer, Dallas Greer, Ryan Pannell and Shane Scallions will honor Mary by serving as pallbearers.  Lee Melton, Chris Mullen, Dustin Mullen and Jeremy Prewitt will serve as honorary pallbearers.
