Obituary

Mary Flanagan Buzzarde Brewer, age 75, of Mobile, AL, passed away August 05, 2022 surrounded by family and friends. Mrs. Brewer was born on November 26, 1946 in Vardaman, MS to the late Brother Wiley Haden Flanagan and Mary Alice Herring Flanagan.
She worked 25 years as a telephone operator for South Central Bell and AT&T. After retiring from AT&T she worked as a teacher's aide for nearly 10 years in the Grenada School District.
Mary, known by many as "Buzz" or "Nanny," was an avid Ole Miss fan. It was with great joy she was able to watch her Rebels win the 2022 College World Series. Shouts of "Hotty Toddy" were heard throughout the complex and many calls and text exchanges with friends.
She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Nancy Marie Flanagan in 1943; husband, Rex "Baby Love" Brewer in 2000; father, Wiley H. Flanagan in 2001; daughter, Mary Theresa "Nud" (Vernon-Buzzarde) Ambron in 2012; and mother, Mary Alice "Mammy" Flanagan in 2016.
Survivors include her daughter, Danette "Net" Woods (Kevin "Kevinator"); son-in-law, Marty "Weezer" Ambron (Caron "Jo Flat"); Fur Baby, Yogi "Yoditz" Brewer; grandchildren, Kylee "Peeps" Gaston (Thomas "Cito"), Kara "Bear Zilla" Carr, Christopher "Kissifer" Ambron, and Amie "AmieLou" Neal (Corey); great-grandchildren, Paxton "Pac-Man" Boykin, Parker "Peanut" Boykin, Carson "Munk-Munk Cheeks" Gaston, Reese "Reesie Roni" Gaston, and Carole "CeeCee" Miller; special caregivers and friends, Miriam "Murm" Kripp (Worsham), Natalie "Sis or Cicero" Patton, and Linda "Elsie" Bennett; other relatives, and friends.
To accommodate Mary's many family members and friends, two visitations will be held, one in Mobile, AL on Thursday and another in Grenada, MS on Saturday.
The first visitation will be Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 2-4 PM at Serenity Funeral Home in Theodore, AL.
The second visitation will be Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 1:00pm at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service, Grenada, MS followed by a service in the chapel at 2:00 PM. The burial will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park (1058 Dr Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Grenada, MS 38901) immediately following the 2 PM chapel service.
The service will be performed by dear family member and pastor, Brother Jerry Baker (Connie) of New Mexico.
Any flowers or mementos should be sent to McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service. However, in lieu of flowers, donations directed to your animal rescue center of choice would make Mary's heart smile.
