Mrs. Mary Lou Tharp DuBard, 87, of Carroll County, passed away Sunday, January 22, 2023 at her residence. She was born March 10, 1935 in Webster County to Pervin and Mary Alice Lloyd Tharp. Mary Lou made her home in Webster County until 1951 when she moved to Carroll County with her mother and dad. She attended schools at Montevista, Eupora and graduated from J.Z. George High School at Carrollton in 1953. She married J.T. Dubard, Jr., the same year. She went to work at Pennaco Hosiery (which was Grenada Hosiery Mill) at that time. She worked there for 51 years and retired to her home to be a fulltime wife and help her husband on the farm. She was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church where she and her family have attended for 70 years. Mary Lou served in many capacities including kindergarten teacher, Mission Friends leader, and helped with GAs and WMU. She also served on numerous committees through the years. She and J.T. were blessed with three daughters all of whom live on their farm in Carroll County.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Liberty Baptist Church in the Jefferson Community of Carroll County with Rev. Gary Tanner officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the hour of the service Wednesday at the church.
Survivors include her husband of 70 years, J.T. DuBard, Jr.; three daughters, Jo Alice Gillon(David), Judy Edwards(Ronald) and Denise Parks, all of Carroll County; sister, Ann Sellers of Madison; eight grandchildren, Timothy Sullivan, John Dee Sullivan, Marc Gillon, Raymond Gillon, Nikki Muller, Stephenee Edwards, Rodney Edwards and Richard Parks; 17 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Bobbie Heath and a brother, Edward Shaw Tharp.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Edwards, Hunter George, Raymond Gillon, Richard Parks, John Sullivan and Timothy Sullivan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Caleb Chrestman, Drew Edwards and Marc Gillon.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation for the professional and compassionate care extended to Mary Lou and the family from Adoration Hospice, especially Teresa Palmertree.
