Ms. Melinda Kay Hunnicutt Franklin, 65, of Lake Cormorant, passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Desoto in Southaven. She was born January 28, 1961 in Charleston to Billy Harold Hunnicutt and Norma Fay McMahan Hunnicutt. Melinda earned a degree in nursing from Holmes Junior College and enjoyed a long, successful career as a Registered Nurse. In retirement, she found great joy in learning and perfecting the art of sewing. Melinda loved the Lord and will long be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 6, 2026 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada with Pastor Farrell Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Cemetery in the Rosebloom Community of Tallahatchie County. The family will receive friends from 9:30 AM until service time Friday at McKibben and Guinn.
Survivors include her daughter, Amanda Winter and her husband, Ramon "Marty" Winter of Lake Cormorant; sons, Daniel McCammon and his wife, Nicole of Grenada and Steven Moore and his wife, Jennifer of Hernando; sister, Ramona Hansen of Carthage; seven grandchildren, Keri Kendall(Coty), Houzston Belew, Alexis Lantrip(Chris), Ashlyn Bollinger(Jonathan), Dustin Winter, Lily McCammon and Ollie McCammon; and six great-grandchildren, Kayleigh Kendall, Colston Kendall, Wyatt Lantrip, Laine Bollinger, Emmarie Bollinger and Ivy Bollinger.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lisa Turner.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers include Houzston Belew, Jonathan Bollinger, Coty Kendall, Chris Lantrip, Daniel McCammon, Steven Moore, Dustin Winter and Ramon Winter. Laine Bollinger, Colston Kendall, Wyatt Lantrip and Ollie McCammon will serve as honorary pallbearers.
