Mr. Melvin Lee Weeks, 72, of the Teoc Community in Carroll County, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at his residence. He was born May 22, 1944 in Carroll County to Melvin Porter and Minnie Geneva McRae Weeks. He was a retired machinist, a Mason and a member of Valley Hill Baptist Church. Melvin was a legend among the hog hunting community having been included in numerous publications across the southeast. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman and will be missed by all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2017 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada. Interment will follow in the Weeks Cemetery in Carroll County. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife Carol Weeks; one daughter, Jennifer Weeks of Carrollton; two sons, Gary Weeks of Hattiesburg and Jerry Weeks and his wife, Linda of Carrollton; his mother, Geneva Weeks of Shreveport, LA; two brothers, Tommy Weeks and Bobby Weeks, both of Shreveport, LA; four grandchildren, Aaron White, Grace Weeks, Heath Brewer and Janie Herbert and one great-grandchild, Annabel Herbert.
He was preceded in death by his father and three brothers, David, Emmitt and Roy Weeks.
