Mr. Michael Jason Austin, 41, of Grenada, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020 at the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada.  He was born January 6, 1979 in Winona.  Michael had spent most of his working life as a truck driver and was known far and wide as "Sledgehammer".  He was devoted to serving his community and was an active member of the Elliott Volunteer Fire Department.  Michael was a devoted husband and father and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Elliott Cemetery with Rev. Tim Lane officiating.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Myrick Austin; two daughters, Paige Austin and Brooklyn Austin; mother, Cindy Shields; father, Dale Austin; brother, Roger Austin; step-sister, Marcia Ory and step-brother, David Zellers.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sonny Boy and Barbara Shields.

Pallbearers will be Roger Austin, Joey Bennett, Mike Burrell, Sonny Horne, Johnny Shields and Tommy Snell.  Colors will be presented by the Grenada High School ROTC.
